HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER


Attend Orientation & Training Session

Contact Tammy Frievalt to reserve a seat in the next volunteer orientation session.

This orientation will include a general overview of the shelter covering topics such as shelter policies and procedures, animal health and safety, recognizing signs of aggression, disease prevention procedures, etc. After the general overview, a starting date and time will be agreed upon.

Mentors in the areas of dog walking and cat room maintenance customer service will be available to assist volunteers new to the shelter.



GREAT WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

Customer Service:
Welcome customers to the shelter, direct customers to appropriate areas of building, inform customers of adoption process

Office Volunteer:
Data entry, answer phones, and various other administrative duties

Tour Guide:
Assist with tours for area schools, scout troops, etc. upon request.

Cat Room Customer Service:
Monitoring customers around cat room, instructing customers on adoption process, bringing out cats to viewing rooms, answering questions about cats and light cleaning.

Cat Room Maintenance:
This area most in need!
Clean and disinfect cages and equipment, note health and behavioral concerns of individual cats, maintenance of cat room and maintain stock of cat room supplies (Must be 16 years of age)

Dog Walking:
Walk/play with leashed dogs for exercise and enjoyment and note health and personality of individual dogs. (Must be 16 to walk the dogs)

Dog Customer Service:
Monitoring customers around dog kennels, instructing customers on adoption process, answering questions about the dogs, bringing dogs out to viewing rooms.

Special Events:
Help with planning and organizing of fundraisers (i.e. Pet Walk, Fur Ball, Brewfest, Dog Washes, etc...)
